Understanding the Right to Information (RTI) Act

RTI

Advantages of the RTI Act:

1. Transparency: RTI promotes transparency in the functioning of public authorities, ensuring that citizens have access to information about the workings of various government departments and institutions.

2 .Accountability: By providing citizens with the power to seek information, the RTI Act holds public officials accountable for their actions and decisions.

3. Empowerment: RTI empowers individuals to actively participate in the democratic process by enabling them to make informed decisions based on the information they receive.

4. Reduction in Corruption: Increased transparency and accountability help in reducing corruption and misuse of public resources.

Disadvantages of the RTI Act:

  1. Misuse: In some cases, the RTI Act can be misused by individuals for personal grievances or to harass public officials, leading to unnecessary workload and delays.

2. Confidentiality Concerns: Certain sensitive information, if disclosed, can compromise national security, privacy, and other critical interests, making it important to balance transparency with confidentiality.

3. Resource Intensive: Processing RTI requests requires significant time and resources, which can strain the administrative capacities of public authorities.

Our Commitment

At B.N.SAHA D.A.V TEACHERS TRAINING COLLEGE, we are committed to upholding the principles of the RTI Act and ensuring that your right to information is respected and facilitated. We encourage you to take advantage of this powerful tool to stay informed and engaged.
